Blog For New Zealand March 21-23
A worldwide group of volunteer bloggers and other writers who will aggressively promote New Zealand on 21 to 23 March is being assembled.
The volunteer group to do this has been launched and is recruiting widely. It's open to anyone worldwide who cares about New Zealand and anyone who can write about New Zealand and why they love it or like visiting New Zealand. Well over 1,000 original pieces will be published during the 72 hour period: stories, photo essays, videos. They ask participants to consider posting one piece per day and if possible to sign-up ahead of time at the site Blog 4 NZ that has been set-up to co-ordinate the effort which will generate huge amounts of publicity for New Zealand tourismThe project is being co-ordinated by industry people Dan Roberts and Craig Martin. Martin describes the project:
"Tourism is vitally important to New Zealand's economy: it makes up ~10% of our GDP, the Prime Minister is also the Minister for Tourism, and income from tourism will be funding the rebuilding of Christchurch and the Canterbury region ... Not to mention the thousands of tourism operators and staff that are being dramatically effected by the ongoing damage to bookings because of the quake."On March 21-23 we are asking travel publishers, especially bloggers, around the world to publishing New Zealand content and promote New Zealand as a place that's still open to visit. Some sites and networks are "rebranding" with a custom theme over this time to be in solidarity with New Zealand and promote the project."During the 72-hour period we will be promoting all links through the #blog4nz hashtag on twitter, blog carnivals and lists of links on partner sites, and our custom Facebook page: https://facebook.com/blog4nz. The effect of this "flood" of New Zealand content, tweets and Facebook messages is sure to drive pageviews during this period."
Key points:
- It's worldwide
- It's going to be huge
- Not just travel blogs can take part: anyone can write about why they love NZ or visiting NZ.
- It's going to be on March 21-23 and we hope to generate well over 1,000 pieces of original content including stories, photo essays and videos. Consider posting at least one post each day.
- Sign up at https://blog4nz.indietravelmedia.com/sign-up so they can contact people.
- https://facebook.com/blog4nz is the rallying point, which will become the place people share their stories.
I've joined up and will be blogging that day.
